Social media users were quick to react to a bizarre video of Gwyneth Paltrow getting grilled by the Utah-based lawyer Kristin Vanorman about her friendship with Taylor Swift as she took the stand on Friday to testify in a trial over a 2016 skiing crash. While testifying about the accident in a Park City courtroom, the 50-year-old Oscar winner was questioned about how close she is to the pop star, 33, who was famously awarded a symbolic $1 in damages on 2017 after she won her case against a Denver DJ accused of groping her. When asked if she was inspired by the singer's 'symbolic' request for a single dollar, the Contagion actress insisted that she was not familiar with the case when she made the decision to countersue Terry Sanderson, the man that has accused her of skiing 'recklessly into him on a beginner run at Deer Valley Resort seven years ago,' according to AP. 'It's an actual dollar that I'm asking for,' she told Sanderson's attorney, before noting it is 'symbolic' because the 'the damages would actually be more.' Vanorman then fired back: 'Remember me asking you, is it symbolic and you said yes it is, and I asked you as well, well you learned about that through Taylor Swift, because she asked for $1 in symbolic damages, right.'
