Kerry Washington wows in floral print cardigan and fitted black dress as she talks sustainability at Marie Claire Fashion Our Future event
Kerry Washington was going green in style on Thursday. The Scandal actress, 46, wowed in a floral print cardigan worn over a black maxi dress with rose decor at Marie Claire's Fashion Our Future event in New York on Thursday. She looked stunning with her black hair styled into a single braid that dangled over her shoulder and a pair of gold hoop earrings glamming up the look. The Little Fires Everywhere actress, who has been busy promoting her new show Unprisoned, worked a smoky eye, blush, and a French tip manicure which she flaunted as she placed her hands on her trim waist. When Kerry wasn't displaying her stunning outfit, she was on stage chatting with other fashion leaders about sustainability. A new initiative between Marie Claire and Kering, Fashion Our Future 'will focus on women, fashion and sustainability, addressing the great public,' according to the Kering website. During the event, the two organizations announced a new joint podcast, Fashion Our Future. While sharing the stage with Sally Holmes, the editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, Aurora James, founder of the luxury accessories brand Brother Vellies, and fashion designer Angel Chang, Kerry talked passionately about spreading the message of sustainability. 'Real change happens when the message is being delivered in multiple stages in the process,' she explained. 'If people are walking down the street and they see a huge [billboard] of what Kering is doing they [can] turn on their phone and scan a QR code, and they walk past the store. 'People get information in multiple places and understand this is not just a fashionable moment. This is not a trend. 'This has to be a life shift for the health of our planet.…There are multiple opportunities to contribute to that narrative.' Her latest appearance comes amid the release of her new series Unprisoned, which debuted on Hulu last week. The show sees her play Paige Alexander, the daughter of a man who has been released from prison following his latest 17-year sentence.
