Liam Hemsworth looks solemn on Malibu set of his new movie Lonely Planet... after ex-wife Miley Cyrus' revenge song Flowers hit number one

Liam Hemsworth was spotted on set shooting his new movie in Malibu, California, on Friday. The Hunger Games actor, 33, was in the middle of filming scenes on the beach for his upcoming Netflix movie Lonely Planet after his ex-wife Miley Cyrus' revenge song Flowers hit number one. While on set, Liam donned a thin green button-up shirt with a white shirt underneath, black pants, and white sneakers. The Independence Day: Resurgence star made his way around the beach while conversing with several people working on the set. The crew set up different shots, including one with a camel and another focused on him sitting in the sand and looking out at the ocean. Lonely Planet is a romance film set in Morocco and stars Liam and Laura Dern (Jurassic World Dominion) in the leading roles. Netflix has kept the plot under wraps, but the film is written and directed by Susannah Grant (Catch and Release, The 5th Wave, Unbelievable). This spotting comes around the same time as Miley's newest song, Flowers, which is speculated to be about him, hit number one in over 20 countries and snatched the coveted top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. On January 20, one week after its release, it became the most-streamed song in a single week on Spotify, with over 83 million plays. The Wrecking Ball songstress released her new single on Liam's birthday, January 13, and included a few possible nods to her ex in the song and the music video. One of those nods was an outfit she chose to wear in the video, which had an uncanny resemblance to a dress worn by Jennifer Lawrence at the Hunger Games premiere in 2012. Fans spotted the hidden message in the video, which hints that there may have been a possible fling between Liam and his Hunger Games co-star. Miley's older sister Brandi recently talked about the single on her podcast Your Favorite Thing, which she hosts alongside Wells Adams. 'The song did come out on his birthday — was that on purpose? I don’t know, can’t say. Genius though,' she said. 'I love Miley fans so much, they go hard in the paint. The fans on TikTok just keep creating narrative after narrative and it is so funny. 'It makes Miley seem like an absolute genius, and it’s just too good. Every day I wake up to a new one.' However, she did not specifically say whether or not the song was about Liam. Instead, she said: 'I’m letting this play out. Only Miley knows the truth.'
